Animals In Dudhwa National Park
Dudhwa is extended over the expanse of approximately 811 sq km of marshes, dense forests, and grasslands. It is the perfect and protected home for 38 species of mammals, 16 species of reptiles, and various birds species. Dhudwa was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1958, a national park in 1977, and the project tiger reserve in 1988. This national park is situated on the Indo-Nepal border in the foothills of the Himalayans and in the Terai region.
Rhinoceros, Tiger, Elephant, Swamp deer, Hog Deer, Sambar, Kakar, Cheetal, Rhesus monkey, Wild pig, Langur, Sloth beat, Porcupine, Blue bull, Python, Otter, Turtles, Monitor lizard, Gharial, Mugger, and etc.
Of almost nearly 1300 birds found in the Indian Subcontinent, over 450 species can be seen in the Dudhwa Reserve. These consist of Hornbill, Peafowl, Red Jungle Fowl, Fishing eagle, Bengal Florican, Serpent eagle, Paradise Flycatcher, Osprey, Woodpeckers, Indian Pitta, Orioles, Emerald dove and etc. While in winter, the vast and diverse water bodies attract a large number and variety of migratory birds that make this park a favorite haunt of bird watchers.
