Dudhwa National Park Climate

Dudhwa National Park is located at an altitude of 150 to 183 meters. The best season that is preferred to visit the national park is from the middle of November to mid of June. But the preferred period to visit is February to April.

As same as the rest of Northern India, the extreme climate type is observed in Dudhwa. Summer is extremely hot with the temperature rising up to 40 C. During the winter months, the weather remains almost pleasant and the temperature ranges from 20 C to 30 C. The average annual rainfall in the Dudhwa region is 1,600 mm.

Summers (April-July)

25°C to 40°C

The summer months that start from April and continue all the way to June are the hottest months in the Dudhwa National Park region. During this time, the temperature rises up to an average of 40°C during the daytime and witnessed dampness and humidity in the air. The temperature drops down to the average of 32°C in the nighttime that making it a tad cooler than the day. So, this is not the preferred time to visit, but a lot of the people visit during the summers because the national park isn’t open throughout the year. Wear light-colored clothes and carry the best costume to beat the heat.

Monsoons (July-September)

21°C to 35°C

Dudhwa National Park experiences a good amount of rainfall during the Monsoon. The burning heat of the sun is no more witnessed and the climate becomes windy and cool along with the thunderstorms and rains. Rain in this region is very much required for the maintenance and growth of various species of plant life. Temperatures during the monsoon season range from 28°C - 30°C in the daytime to 24°C at the night to make it cool. And this is not the preferred time to visit the national park as it is breeding season for so many animals and most of the park areas remain closed until November.

Winters (October- March)

12°C to 28°C

Winter is the best and preferred season to visit Dudhwa National Park because the climate is cool, in fact, it is chilly which makes it a great time for seeing the sight without getting very tired. Temperatures during this time go from an average of almost 22°C in the daytime to an average low of 12°C at the night. Peak winter nights get even chillier with the temperature dropping to 8°C. If you visit Dhudwa National Park during this time, it is preferred to carry warm clothes which will protect you from the cold.

Winter is the best time to enjoy the national park at its best in nature’s arms. Because this is the ideal time to visit the park, there are also some people who visit and therefore it might be a bit crowded as well.
