Kishanpur Tiger Reserve Wildlife Sanctuary

Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary is the park of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve that is situated near Mailani in Uttar Pradesh. Founded in 1972, it is extended to an area of 227km. When Dudhwa became the park of Tiger Project after 11 years, the Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary was added to Dudhwa Tiger Reserve Zone. Visitors can witness 1800 Barasingha and majestic herds specifically seen in the greenery wetlands of the Kakraha and Sathania blocks.

When it comes to the largest Indian Deer then, Sambar is the largest one that measures up to 150 cm till the shoulders and 95 cm for its antler and head. They are commonly spotted in the herds of 10-30 in which only two to three are the stags. The name Hog-deer is found from its hog-like gesture and appearance. They also keep their head down while running. With antlers measuring around 30-35 cm on average, the hog-deer is known for having short legs and a stout build.
