Pilibhit Tiger Reserve Wildlife Sanctuary

Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is situated in the district of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Bahraich District of Uttar Pradesh. This Tiger Reserve is one of the best examples of the extremely diverse and productive Terai Eco-System. This Pilbhit Tiger Reserve was declared in September 2008 and the credit goes to the special type of ecosystem with wide-open spaces and adequate feed for the aesthetic predators. Known as India’s 45 Tiger Reserve Project, this is one of the best Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park areas. The reserve edge of the reserve lies on the Indo Nepal border whereas the southern edge is marked by the river Khakra and Sharada.

The Wildlife Institute of India shows that the Dudhwa-Pilibhit population is known for the highest conservation value as it is known for having a tiger population with the behavioral and ecological adaptations of the tiger. This is home to the habitat for over 326 bird species, 127 animals, and 2,100 flowering plants. The best part is the assortment of plantations, high sal forests, and greenery with various water bodies.

The jungles are home to innumerable wild animals that include the rare tiger, Bengal Florican, Swamp Deer, Leopard, and Hog Deer. The vast carnivores are extended with the population of wild boar, chital, sambar, hog deer, blue bull, swamp deer, etc. The birdlife is very diverse and rich and included hundreds of species of birds that can be witnessed around. Visitors will definitely get amazed by the interpretation center, edge of a huge water body, and cottages.

The unusual calm forest is known for the echoes of langur and Cheetal. With this alarm call, all the inhabitants get alerted of the forest for the occurrence of the king- The Tiger. The presence of this elusive king or the Tiger Spotting is identified by the scratch marks, pug marks, and scat as well. This royal animal when witnessed in its own surrounding is the exact moment that you can cherish forever. There are so many species of the animal lives in Pilbhit Tiger Reserve including sloth bear, leopard, swamp deer, wild boar, hog deer, spotted deer (Cheetal), barking deer, civets, sambar, porcupine, monitor lizard and python and all of them have an equal role in the ecology. Some critical rare species like a hispid hare, pangolin, otter, Indian Vulture, and Bengal Florican finds a home in this forest.
